Last night we celebrated the VIP launch of our very first floating store. The scene was set with the promenade approaching the store decked out in full seaside regalia; wooden paneling, deck chairs, beach umbrella’s, and half of Bondi beach covering the ground. The store itself was a floating beacon of drop dead amazing sunglasses with all the usual fabulous Sunglass Hut suspects; Prada, Miu Miu, Versace, Bulgari, Ray Ban and many more.
Celebrities including Didier Cohen, Timomatic, Tom Williams and Wes Carr sunglassed up, along with fashion teams from Vogue, Grazia, Marie Claire, Instyle, Shop Till You Drop and more, and of course were joined by all of our favourite bloggers including Candice Lake, Liam McKesser (Front Row Suit), Margaret Zhang (Shine By Three), and Nicole Warne (Gary Pepper vintage), to name but a few.
Guests partied the night away with cocktails, free flowing wine, delicious seafood, and hors d’oeuvres served by the cutest cabana boys this side of Rio. At a little after 8pm, our special international guest; Jason Mraz took to the stage and knocked everyones socks off with a fantastic performance of some of his biggest hits.
The night drew to a close with a few more cheeky drinks, some delicious mini gelato cones and guests taking home a gift card to use on their choice of eyewear on the floating store: We predict a sell out of the Miu Miu noir cat-eye’s – the standout favourite for all the fashion types (We overheard Vogue street style blogger Candice Lake deciding she definitely needed a pair in the tortoiseshell).
All in all a brilliant night had by everyone and we can’t wait to hang out on the floating store all weekend and decide just which pair of frames we’re going to take home for ourselves.

Due to unforeseen weather circumstances, the Sunglass Hut Floating Store will remain in Darling Harbour on Sunday 20th Nov from 10am-7pm, instead of the originally announced location of Manly Wharf.
